Create a product label
View slide show (located at the bottom of this page) of several different food product labels. Look at some actual product labels. Take notes and answer the questions below:
Think about things that the labels have in common. What are some things on the product label that would make people want to buy it? Who is the audience that the product is intended for? If the selling feature is that it is healthy, the audience is for adults concerned with meeting all of the suggested daily nutrition. What are some examples of selling words and phrases? What are some examples of selling graphics? What other features about it would make it "sell-able?"
Be prepared for a classroom discussion based on your notes.
MAKE YOUR PRODUCT!
Bring in an empty can with label attached.
Carefully remove the original label.
Measure out the size of the label.
Create a custom canvas size on Photoshop that will fit on your can.
Test your label size to ensure proper fit.
Design your label on Photoshop.
Be sure to include all of the features of a normal product label.
Print out your label and attach to your can with tape or glue.
